Student Leadership Color Run 2016
Student Leadership Color Run 2016

The chilly Saturday morning was quickly warmed by 100+ students and community members running and working in the 2nd Annual KNHS Student Leadership 5K Color Run.  The Student Leadership Team represents each of the primary student organizations.  This event is a joint effort of the students to give back to a community that is always supportive in all they do.  This year the proceeds were designated for the Johnson County Cancer Foundation (JCCF).  The Color Run shirts were running ribbons and the back listed 42 individuals who have been affected by cancer,

Wendy Buzzanga joined the front line as the 2016 Color Run began.  Mrs. Buzzanga said, “Keith and I are both business owners and our family supports the Johnson County Cancer Foundation every chance we get.  We signed up for the 5K before my recent diagnosis of breast cancer.  To see all those supporting our local cancer foundation and honoring their loved ones, was definitely heartwarming.”

The Student Leadership Team presented a check for $1000 to Connie Baldwin and Derek Elwell representing the board of the JCCF.  The students and their sponsors are grateful for the support of business owner Brandi Carter of B&G Scoops who helped throw color and the district OPPA director, Jayne Sader, who provided snacks and water for the runners.  They are also grateful to all who participated.
